It’s no secret to those following me on social media that since last year, I have been visiting the USA quite often, specifically New Canaan in the state of Connecticut. I declare myself a New England lover...
I am a connector, and I love connecting with bright minds and kind hearts. I also love discovering new things and new paths wherever I go.
My curious mind is always on the lookout for beauty.
I feel grateful for my curiosity because, thanks to this special life vitamin, I almost always discover gems. That's how I came across a special place here in New Canaan.
Interestingly enough, this location is unknown to many of the locals. Even my fiancé Matthew was unaware of this special place, even though it is just minutes away from our house. I discovered the place thanks to my electronic subscription to Bedford & New Canaan magazine. Thank you, Ladies & Gents!
This magical spot is located on Sleepy Hollow Road. Isn't that interesting? Why? Just continue reading.

The space I'm speaking of is The Land Trust’s Firefly Sanctuary, likely the first dedicated firefly preserve in the United States.

Thanks to divine intervention (the event was sold out for weeks...), we visited the sanctuary last Thursday, July 11, and it was mesmerizing!

I am not an expert in fireflies, so if you want to learn more about these very interesting, beautiful creatures, I recommend you click on the link below and watch the short, very nicely done video:

And if you somehow find yourself in New Canaan next year between the end of June and mid-July, you will not regret visiting the sanctuary.
Let me tell you something: we all can learn a lot from how the lightning bugs share and sparkle their inner light by creating beauty around them.
So, my dears, let’s keep shining our light no matter what the times and weather may bring!
