Courage is not just a single action—it is something that lives within us all the time.
Taking just one step toward facing our fears can make life easier. I once read in a book that when you confront your fears, you begin to see the beauty in life. Regardless of my thoughts on courage, I want to share a story that changed my life.
When I was in school, I had a task to prepare a song for a music lesson. At home, I used to sing often and believed my voice was beautiful. I had confidence and loved singing, regardless of what others might think. But when the day came to perform in front of my classmates, I realized that the song I had chosen did not suit my voice. As I sang, everyone started laughing. I felt humiliated. From that day on, I never sang again.Years later, in high school, I found my way back to music. People encouraged me to train with a vocal coach, and after much hesitation, I finally decided to give it a try. But when I heard my own voice, it sounded terrible to me. I was devastated. I ran out of the training center in tears and gave up on my dream of singing once again.
However, the dream never left me. No matter how much I tried to ignore it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
The turning point came when I was working in the marketing department, organizing events for a shopping center. I invited a girl from my university to collaborate on an event. Though we weren’t close friends, I knew she was incredibly talented—she could play almost every instrument and had a beautiful singing voice. When I reached out to her, she was happy to collaborate. As we got more comfortable working together, I finally opened up about my past disappointments with music. She was surprised and encouraged me to sing again. She even suggested we prepare a song together for the event. At that moment, excitement ignited in my heart, and I felt like a child again. She believed in me. She told me I had a sweet voice and that we just needed to find songs that suited my vocal range.
When the day of the event arrived, I was incredibly nervous. As I started singing, I tried to control my voice, but I couldn't bring myself to look into people’s eyes. My hands were trembling, and my heart was racing. But then, something magical happened—people started clapping. They told me my voice was beautiful.That was the most beautiful day of my life—the day my dream came true.I am forever grateful to that girl who gave me the confidence to believe in myself again.
I want to share this story to inspire others: it is never too late for anything. If your inner child still holds onto a dream, follow it—without fear of judgment. Never let your dreams die within you. Be inspired, and inspire others too.
